Solution Focused Brief Therapy focuses on solution development to bring about positive change and problem resolution quickly. Dr. Castaldo coaches clients collaboratively to assist them in identifying and using their own strengths and capacity for growth and healing. Debra is also a trained couples and family therapist who coaches partners on fully respectful, loving relationships. She also coaches parents in solution focused parenting to solve child issues and manage difficult behaviors. She uses a flexible family approach to meet with combinations of family members as needed.
In the mid 1980s, Dr. Castaldo trained with the originators of Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg of The Brief Family Therapy Center of Milwaukee. She has also trained wit Terrence Real of the Relational Life Institute in Boston, and Ackerman Institute for the Family in New York. She has been teaching other therapists for the past twenty years in various academic and social service settings. She also consults and teaches solution focused management in the corporate arena.
